How the comparison works

How SportWizzard compares sportsbook and DFS lines

Line Shopping compares available prices for the same selection. It is a way to inspect current offers, not a prediction that a bet will win. This guide explains which quotes belong together, what the highlighted price means, and where a direct comparison ends.

What counts as the same line?

A comparable sportsbook row must refer to the same event, market, period, participant, side, and line. For example, a player's points over 24.5 is different from over 25.5, the under, a first-half prop, or another game. The market grouping also keeps scope, segment, and overtime treatment distinct where the feed provides them. Unmatched or incomplete selections are left out instead of guessed into a group.

Within that group, SportWizzard shows the best available sportsbook price for a source and highlights the highest displayed price across sources. It does not combine two different lines just because they mention the same player or team.

A worked sportsbook example

Suppose two sportsbooks both offer the same player points over 24.5 for the same game: one at +100 and one at -110. A $100 winning stake would return $100 profit at +100, versus about $90.91 profit at -110. The +100 quote is the better displayed price for that exact selection. This is an illustrative calculation, not a live market or a bet recommendation.

The US, decimal, and percentage display options change the representation of a sportsbook quote. The percentage is its implied probability before removing the book margin; it is not SportWizzard's forecast of the event.

Why DFS offers have a separate lane

DFS entries can use multipliers, push rules, and multi-pick payout structures that differ from a single sportsbook bet. The Line Shopping view therefore displays DFS offers separately instead of pretending that every multiplier is directly equivalent to sportsbook odds. Always check the entry rules in the source app.

The DFS Edges tool answers a different question: it compares a DFS player prop with a sportsbook reference after removing the bookmaker margin (vig) from opposing prices. The resulting edge is a price comparison signal. It is not the raw Line Shopping quote or a guarantee of a profitable entry.

Freshness, coverage, and limits

The live index excludes started events, suspended selections, and quotes outside its freshness window. Sources update at different times, and an offer can disappear or move before it appears here or before you open the source app. Missing data does not mean a source has no market; coverage varies by sport, market, and provider.

Before acting, verify the event, period, participant, side, line, payout rules, and price at the source. The supported sources page explains feed coverage and activity; Line Shopping shows the currently available comparisons. Developers can inspect the market data API for their own analysis.
